From the early days of the Church, music has played an important role in the worship of God. The worship of the community is heightened by music. Music imparts joy, beauty, solemnity and-above all-enthusiasm. It also creates a sense of unity and sets the right tone for a particular celebration. Music is evangelical, nourishing. It strengthens faith and allows worshipers to express and share that faith. Music highlights texts so that they speak more clearly and urgently. Music outlines the basic structure of the rites, expressing and communicating that which cannot be put into words.
The Anglican Church has a particularly rich heritage of music, and in appreciation of this heritage, we invite you to participate in the music program at St. Martin's Church.
